Russia recognizes independence

Today Russia has recognized the independence of the Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The U.S. does not recognize the independence since they are part of one country, the country of Georgia. The U.S. has put two ships on the west side of Georgia in the Black Sea. The ships are there to give humanitarian aid to Georgia. The president of Russia has said "We are not afraid of anything,including the prospect of a Cold War."
